Two years face-to-face with 24 months in-service training
Mechanical Engineering N3-N6
Why choose this field
Mechanical Engineering involves the design and development of machinery, ranging from simple mechanisms up to more complex machines. The process of Mechanical Engineering includes the planning and designing of these structures, as well as operating and maintaining them. Mechanical Engineers use an understanding of core concepts such as kinetics and thermodynamics (application of heat and mechanical power) to create and analyse a wide variety of machines and processes.
N2: Engineering Studies, or a Grade 11, or a Senior Certificate, or NSC with Mathematics and Science.
Study guides will be provided.
Once you have completed National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering N6 at Central Technical College, you will be equipped to apply for the following jobs:
- Mechanical Engineer
- Design Engineer
- Materials Scientist
- Process Controller / Technician
On successful completion of the programme, you will receive a National Certification in Mechanical Engineering.
*NATIONAL CERTIFICATE AT EACH LEVEL: N3, N4, N5, N6
*NATIONAL N DIPLOMA (on completion of N4-N6 and two years in-service training).
All examinations are National Examinations, set and administered by the Department of Higher Education and Training. Certificates and diplomas are conferred by the Department of Higher Education and Training.
All qualifications are nationally recognised by industry and universities.
The programme duration is two years full time with two years in-service training and tuition is face to face. Programmes are offered during the week on a full-time basis.
